The Word of Peace Kids-Care Bus:

What:    Funds to support a new bus service were raised by the Word of Peace Vacation Bible School kids. We take Seniors shopping outside of Rogers on the second Tuesday of each month. You are invited to join us – we have a great time!

Cost:      $2.25 for a round trip

Where:  We go to the Ridgedale Shopping Center and the Wal-Mart/Arbor Lakes Area Stores – Different location every month!

There is always a volunteer on the bus to assist you getting on and off, and with your bags.  Call Judy at 763-428-7657 to reserve a seat on the bus.


Thursday Senior Shop Rogers Bus:

What:  The Shop Rogers Bus follows a route to pick up and drop off seniors every week on Thursdays to go shopping in Rogers, and then takes everyone home again.

When: Every week on Thursday!

Time:  10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Cost:   $1.00 for a round trip

The Rogers Lions sponsors part of the cost of our trip. There is a volunteer on the bus to help  with groceries and bags. We will drop you off for shopping at Cabela’s, Best Buy, Cub, Kohls and Target.  The route is printed in the monthly Rogers-Hassan Senior Newsletter. Transit Link is the dial-a-ride minibus service that serves Seniors in Hennepin County.  Transit Link is a shared ride, and other riders may be picked up and dropped off along the way.

The Transit Link bus picks up Seniors right at your home on Monday – Friday.  Call 651-602-5465, press 4 for Hennepin County, press 1 to schedule your ride. The cost for service is $2.25 up to 10 miles (one way).  Cost for 10-20 miles is $4.50 (one way).  Transit Link rides are available from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. You may reserve a ride up to 5 business days in advance.  The dispatch office is open to make appointments between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm.  Their customer service staff will help you through the process of riding Transit Link.


Memory Loss Support Group:

Memory Loss Support Group is available for family members who are caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s/Dementia or memory loss. This support group is designed to give attendees educational and emotional support. No registration is needed. Refreshments included. For more information call: Heidi at 763-428-8181.

When:  3rd Wednesday of each month.

Where: Diamondcrest Assisted Living (20500 S Diamond Lake Road in Rogers).

Time:    1:30 – 3:00 pm

DID YOU KNOW?

Rogers Community Library has computers with full internet access:

Seniors are invited to use the library computers if you don’t have

internet access at home. Call the library for the best time to use the

computers: 952-847-6050. They also have movies on VHS or DVD

waiting for you to check them out. If you love books but are

experiencing some vision problems, try the books on tape or CD.

Can’t make it to the Library?

Hennepin County Library will deliver books and other library material (such as large print books, books on CD’s, music CD’s, DVD movies) to your home (in suburban Hennepin County) by mail or volunteer. There is no charge for this service. Call 952-847-8850 to ask questions or request At-Home-Service.

Free Omnitheater Tickets:

Library volunteers and Friends who have worked hours can receive free tickets to the Science Museum’s Omnitheater and admission to the Science Museum.

Friends Meetings:

Held at the Rogers Library on John Milless Drive on Saturday once a month from 8:00 – 10:00 am.
