About Head to Heart Ministry
The Word of Peace confirmation ministry is a dynamic ministry that partners with parents to help 6th, 7th, and 8th graders connect their faith to daily life, serve God's people, study Martin Luther’s catechism, and prepare students to reaffirm their baptism.
 
Confirmation students attend a large group learning time that includes music, games, skits, and the weekly lesson taught by a pastor. Students also meet in small groups that are led by one adult mentor, one high school student mentor, and a group of 6 to 8 of their peers. These small groups are safe places for students to discuss faith, life, and the weekly lesson. 
 
Each month small groups participate in a fellowship event--a time to have fun and get to know one another or they participate in a servant event.  Servant events are a time for students to serve God's people in world.  Examples of servant events include serving food in local food shelves, playing games with nursing home residents, making care packages for men and women in the military, making cards for homebound and ill congregation members, etc.
 

There are worship note, homework, and service hour requirements for our Head to Heart program that are all designed to teach kids the imprtance of worship, studying God's Word, and serving others.

Your home is the best place to incubate your child’s faith. However, we're delighted to parnter with you in their faith journey.  We encourage all parents to feel welcome to attend the large group teaching times, actively be involved in your child's homework and worship notes, and share the Faith 5 at home every night. Confirmation Hours
Wednesdays: 5:30pm - 7:15 pm Small Group Session 1
  6:15 - 8:00 pm  Small Group Session 2
 

Note: The time slot your child attends will depend upon the group time you selected on your registration form.

 
Registration

Registration for the 2010/2011 school year begins Sunday, May 2 and all registrations are due for returning families no later than Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 7 pm. If you are new to Word of Peace programming and it is after August 5, please call Carrie Fischer for registration information.  Registration forms are available outside of the education office and online HERE beginning May 2.

Common questions...

What if my child did not start confirmation in 6th grade, can they still participate? 

Absolutely!  Call Pastor Rick at      763-496-2400 to arrange the details of registration.

Do I need to be a member of Word of Peace to go come to confirmation classes? 

Absolutely not!  Everyone is welcome.

Do I need to be baptized to take part in the confirmation program?  No. 

If your child decides to complete the three year confirmation program, they should be baptized before they are confirmed.
