Who are First Communion Classes for?

Fifth grade is the customary time to study the meanings of this gift and preapre for first Communion at Word of Peace.  We invite all interested 5th grade and older students to participate in classes.

May my kids receive communion prior to 5th grade if they have already had First Communion instruction?

We understand that many families join us with children who have received prior First Communion instruction at another congregation.

If your child has received First Communion instruction they are welcome to commune at our congregation at any time.

May my child receive communion prior to 5th grade if they have NOT received First Communion instruction?
If you have a child younger than 5th grade and you wish for them to take communion, we respect your choice.  We do encourage all children and their parents to meet privately with a Pastor for First Communion instruction prior to receiving communion.

Welcome to the Lord's Table!

There are a lot of names for the Lord's Supper--Sacrament of the Altar, the Last Supper, Communion, and Eucharist.  Each name reminds us of a different aspect of this sacrament, but all names tell us of the gift of forgiveness that comes to us through the Word of God and the bread and wine.
