Adult Bible Study

In addition to the many small groups that meet at Word of Peace, we offer classes that provide both discussion and teaching by leaders.  Study topics vary from week to week and month to month.  Here's peek at our fall classes. 

Sunday Mornings at 9:30 in Room #120

Study of the Parables, led by Beth Brekke

September 19, 27 October 3, 10, 17, 24

In this six week study, six representative parables will illustrate the particular thrusts of Jesus' teachung.  The sutdy is offered both Sunday mornings at 9:30 am, and Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.  Study guides by Mark Vitalis Hoffman will be available as you register. 

Luther and Daily Life, led by Dr. Walter Sundberg from Luther Seminary

October 31,  November 7, and November 14

Come and hear  dynamic Lutheran Seminary professor, Dr. Walter Sundberg, teach about the Lutheran Reformation and what Martin Luther said and wrote about such subjects as family, marriage, and parenting.  Dr. Sunderberg will lead an abbreviated 3 week study on Sunday, October 31, November 7 and November 14 at 9:30 am in Word of Peace room #120.

The Stories of Genesis you Don't Hear About,  led by Pastor Katherine Malotky,  a pastor, teacher, and retreat leader, and author

January 16 and 23 (Study continues January 30 with a study of Genesis)

Pastor Malotky is the author of the Book of Faith Study, Genesis.  You won't want to miss her enthusiastic, informed, and thought provoking study about the Genesis stories we rarely hear about. 

Sunday Mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 in the Conference Room

This class is a weekly discussion/study on the Sermon Text, led by Lou Witt and Eric Henderson at 9:30 and Lou WItt and Jean Bumgardner at 11:00 am

Held every Sunday morning on an ongoing basis.

Growing Wiser: Trusting God's Wisdom Throughout Life, led by Zola Dasinger

Tuesdays, 7:00-8:30 pm in room 120

9 weeks beginning Tuesday, September 21

Human wisdom is not the automatic accompaniment of physical aging.  Wisdom comes not from the calendar, but from God our Creator.  In thi study, we will explore and discuss nine Scripture stories that relate to various stages of adult life.  Some are found in the Old Testament and some in the New Testament.

Share, Save, Spend—Teaching 6-10 year olds the stewardship of God’s Gifts, led by Thrivent and Word of Peace Stewardship Team

An Evening of Hope, Inspiration, and Laughter   

Speaker: Christine Clifford

Saturday evening, November 6

International public speaker and cancer survivor, Christine Clifford, will speak about the healing power of laughter and hope during any kind of illness or life challenge.
