Messages from the Wilderness

The Season of Lent

February 14 - March 31

In the Bible, the wilderness was both a geographic place, barren and harsh, and a metaphor for those times when life is filled with adversity. In our own lives, we all have seasons when we walk through the wilderness—seasons of loss, opposition, abandonment, or despair. During Lent, we study the lives of five biblical characters who found themselves in the wilderness and we learn the keys to surviving our own wilderness times.

Feb. 18 & 19: “13 Years a Slave and Prisoner” (Joseph)

Feb. 25 & 26:  “Journey Through the Valley of the Shadow” (Ruth)

Mar. 4 & 5: "King David’s Story of Sin and Redemption” (David)

Mar. 11 & 12: "The God Who Sees” (Hagar)

Mar. 18 & 19: “Whispers in the Wilderness” (Elijah)

A Renewed Spirit

A Renewed Spirit:
Lenten Spiritual Practices for Rest and Renewal

Sundays, Feb. 25-Mar. 25 | 6:30-7:30 PM

Create in me a clean heart, O God;
and renew a right spirit within me.
—Psalm 51:10

The season of Lent has long been a time for prayer and meditation. A time when we are invited to pause from the regular rhythms of life. A time for self-reflection and spiritual growth. A time to return to God.

Join Pastor Tyler for this experiential class on prayer and meditation. During each of the five weeks, we will explore a different spiritual practice meant to deepen your connection with God. Spiritual practices include lectio divina, embodied prayer, prayer labyrinths, and more.

Come, renew your spirit.

The Book of Numbers

Sunday Morning Lenten Bible Study:
The Book of Numbers

Sundays at 9:45 AM in Room 120
February 25 through March 18

This Lent we will explore a book of the Bible about the Israelites in the wilderness. Numbers is a complex book. We will explore the stories of the Israelites as they wander, complain, and battle their way through the wilderness.

Pray As You GoPray As You Go

Pray As You Go is a daily prayer session, designed for use on mobile devices to help you pray whenever you find time. A new prayer session is produced every day of the working week, as well as one session for the weekend. It is not a 'Thought for the Day', a sermon or a bible-study, but rather a framework for your own prayer.

Lasting between ten and thirteen minutes, it combines music, scripture and some questions for reflection.
