Your wedding is one of the most joyous occasions of your life and we are delighted to be a part of it! Our desire is to assist you in providing a ceremony which will be meaningful and memorable. Your wedding ceremony should be one of reverence, sacred joy, and beauty.
We at Word of Peace consider the marriage ceremony to be a service of worship before God. Those who gather at the wedding are present to celebrate God’s love and sacred blessing of the couple and to join in prayers for the blessedness of your marriage.
We are committed to assisting you in establishing your marriage, not just performing your wedding ceremony.
We attempt to accommodate the wishes of couples who wish to have their wedding at Word of Peace. Because of demand, we allow our church members first priority of date and time desired.
We strive to allow enough time to host two weddings on the same day, when necessary. The building may be shared briefly as one wedding party clears out and another comes in.
AM weddings 11am or earlier
PM weddings 3pm or later
To schedule your wedding, contact Susen Kay in the church office at (763) 496-2400. Susen will ensure that the date and time, pastor, and wedding coordinator are available. A $300 non-refundable deposit and signed Wedding Policy Agreement will reserve your wedding date and time.
The sanctuary at Word of Peace seats 530 people.
Dressing rooms are available for use before and after the ceremony. Word of Peace is not responsible for cash, valuables, or other personal property left unattended in any part of the church facility at any time.
Fees and Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of $300 and signed Wedding Agreement will reserve your wedding date and time. Your deposit will be deducted from the total fee.
All other fees are due and payable to Word of Peace at least 30 days prior to your wedding.
For a breakdown of all applicable fees, please contact Susen Kay in the church office at (763) 496-2400.
When a pastor from Word of Peace officiates your wedding ceremony, you are required to have one 2-hour session with the presiding pastor. The purpose of this session is to help you plan your wedding and utilize a pre-marital inventory, which explores the strengths and growth areas of your relationship. This session is expected to take place during the pastor’s regular office hours.
The marriage license should be given to the church office at least five days prior to the wedding.
Music for your wedding ceremony should be chosen carefully in order to be meaningful to you and to preserve the reverence of a Christian service. A sheet of suggested music is available from the pastor.
All arrangements for music must be made through Michael Sahlen, the Minister of Worship & Music, (763) 496-2412. A grand piano and organ are available if you prefer your own accompanist.
Your wedding rehearsal may be arranged with the Word of Peace Wedding Coordinator, and it will be directed by the Wedding Coordinator. Any special requests regarding the ceremony itself must be arranged with the pastor ahead of time. Rehearsals are to start on time. Please alert the participants to the heavy traffic on Thursday and Friday evenings.
All decorations will be provided by, set-up, and removed by the family. If using the Unity Candle ceremony, the church’s unity candelabra and “tube” candles on either side will be used. Please supply your own unity candle if you wish to keep it.
Arrangements for an aisle cloth can be made through your florist or other source. Ask for a 75-foot cloth.
The use of photo and video equipment is permitted as long as it does not upstage the dignity of the ceremony.
